OH Conf in Houston and Other get togethers...

I went to the Dallas event last September by myself and had a blast! Everyone was so friendly and welcoming.  I might be attending the Houston one by myself also because my DH hasnt decided if he wants to go with me yet or not.

As far as a really good support group, Im interested in hearing an answer to that myself.

You aren't far from me... well, I guess Dallas would be meeting in the middle?!? Hopefully, there is something out there. I thought about going to the Collin County one, cause I can take back roads and get there pretty quick. If I hear of anything, then I will shoot you a message too!

the collin county group is great - look for posts by Debbi T she is the leader there now - also a lot of folks go to events solo - my husband would come to dinners and stuff with me but the events were MY time - I always go with a group of girlfriends and we share rooms and have a blast - sharing rooms and carpooling keeps it a lot nicer $wise.

the IRL support is awesome - I am in Ga now but have been supported on here though a lot of moves and general insanity, someday we'll come home to the DFW area - and I KNOW I will stilll have friends there:)

go  - bring hubby if he wants to come - it's like on the cruise a bunch of us are going on - I think we have 2 or 3 husbands (mine is coming if he is home from Iraq but I'm not counting on it) but the rest is all just us girls - lots of girl time is good!

My husband is very sweet and supportive, but frankly these events bore the hell out of him because he has never had a weight problem.

The Dallas OH fell on his birthday and I was *really* feeling guilty about leaving him so I talked his brother into buying him a plane ticket home to Denver to go visit him and his folks so it worked out great for both of us.

EVen though the Houston conf is local for me I am staying at the hotel with a roommate and leaving hubbie at home because it will be more fun for me and this is FOR me . 

My best advice for newbies is to hook up with someone for a room so you have someone to hang with and won't be alone.

Same here.....Beast is staying home. He's very supportive and even goes to most support meetings with me but for this, it's my time. I also live closeby but will be staying with roomies. It's so much more fun to be right there for everything and not have traveling hassles.

I gotta say about the FW event this weekend that even though it says Chris + 1 for me it isn't because I have a girlfriend or wife, it is my mother LOL. Hope to possibly see you at the FW event!

JEss, I didn't take hubby to last year's conference, and I'm not taking him to this one! Please come hang out with us for some girlfriend time!

And if you can make it to the dinner, I promise we won't let you feel left out or alone. Hey, I've only talked to a few of these people back and forth on the boards, and don't personally know most of them very well, and my outgoing butt is going to the events so I can change that. LOL.

No - it is in November, so yo have lots of time to make plans for it!  There was some thread drift and they were talking about a dinner this weekend.
